New Mid-East Distributor

Turning Star announces it has reached a distributorship agreement with Florensa, located in Doha, Qatar. This new partnership strategically positions Turning Star and Florensa to respond to the growing demands of government and private contractors’ needs for fire resistance in the Mid-East and nearby regions. Florensa has a long history of working with fire retardant fabrics in the Gulf States, and with Turning Star’s help, is expanding its expertise into areas of building finish coatings that are fire resistant.

Florensa will carry a full inventory of Turning Star products ready for shipment.  While Florensa’s focus area is the Gulf States, it’s location provides easy export to the surrounding areas, including India, Turkey, West Africa, and Eastern Europe.

The Specialty Group is Turning Star Approved Applicator

The Specialty Group of Richmond, Virginia has partnered with Turning Star to offer flame retardant application services. In addition to drapery fabrication, installation, and cleaning, The Specialty Group has expanded its services to offer flame retardant chemical application to make it a 360° full service company.

At the request of the cleaning division of The Specialty Group, Turning Star set up a program to train the Specialty Group staff on proper flame retardant product application, Virginia Fire Codes, certification procedures, and matching the appropriate flame retardant chemicals to fabrics. Additionally, with Turning Star’s help the Specialty Group’s staff has become certified to apply flame retardant products by the NYC Fire Department.

The Specialty Group uses Turning Star’s Flame Guardian line of flame retardant chemicals.

Turning Star Partners with Rosco

Turning Star is chosen as exclusive manufacturer for ROSCO flame retardant products

Effective September 1, 2009, Turning Star became the exclusive manufacturer for Rosco flame retardants. In an unprecedented move, Rosco Laboratories, one of the largest theatrical suppliers in the US with extensive presence in UK, Europe, and parts of Asia, with its well-known line of Roscoflamex flame retardants, decided to retire its own product line and asked Turning Star to manufacture and bottle their flame retardants for Rosco under the Roscoflamex brand.

Turning Star flame retardants are now being marketed as Roscoflamex NF, SF, DF, PC, WD, and PA. These correspond to Turning Star products Natural Fibers, Synthetic Fibers, Silks Sheers & Fine Synthetics, Paper and Cardboard, Raw Wood, and VE-231 Paint Additivie. These take the place of Roscoflamex C26, S33, W40, and P50.  See the Rosco website to find a dealer who can provide these flame retardant products.

The announcement was made at meeting of Rosco dealers in Stamford, CT in July.

As part of the arrangement between the two companies, Turning Star will no longer sell these products through its dealers, nor sell directly to the theatrical and live entertainment industry. Turning Star will continue to provide flame retardant products to the construction, automotive, textile, aviation, and other non-theatrical industries.

To facilitate and simplify this transfer, Turning Star has developed a new line of flame retardants using an evolved chemistry basis called the Flame Guardian line. The Flame Guardian product line will provide the same fire resistance customers have come to expect from Turning Star, with added benefits in usability, application, and drying time.
